NYC Council Participatory Budgeting Cycle Begins


New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson (D-3rd District) and the New York City Council Officially kicked off Cycle 8 of Participatory Budgeting in New York City (PBNYC) this past month and called on the Public to Submit Ideas on what Projects they would like to see Funded.



PBNYC was launched in 2011 with the Goal of Engaging New Yorkers in the Budgetary Process and giving them a greater say in how their Tax Dollars are being Spent.

During the Voting Period for Cycle 7, over 99,250 New Yorkers Voted to Allocate over $36 Million in Capital Funding across 27 Council Districts.

This year, 32 Council Districts will be participating in Cycle 8, which also includes a Renewed $1 million Commitment from Borough President Eric L. Adams to go toward Participating Council Member Districts in Brooklyn.

Vote Week for Cycle 8 will be Held from March 30th through April 7th, 2019.
