DNC Schedules 2020 Convention

The 2020 Democratic National Convention will be held July 13th-16th, Party Chairman Tom Perez announced Friday.

The timing means the Convention will take place just ahead of the Summer Olympics, which start on July 24th, “allowing the Democratic nominee maximum exposure heading into the fall,” the Democratic National Committee (DNC) said in a Mews Release.

“My priority is to ensure that the 2020 nominating process is the most open, fair, transparent and inclusive in our party's history,” Perez said in the release.

“That is exactly why the DNC has started this process early and before we have a full slate of candidates running for president. This will not only allow for a unified party, but will ensure that our nominee is in the strongest position to take on Donald Trump or whoever the Republican nominee may be.”

The DNC is planning on conducting Surveys of potential Sites for the Convention over the next few Months.

The DNC recently sent Proposal requests to potential host Cities, according to a DNC Official.

Cities that responded included: Atlanta, Birmingham, Denver, Houston, Miami Beach, Milwaukee, New York, and San Francisco.

The Deadline for Proposals is today.
