NY Gov. Says DACA Recipients Will Continue Receiving Health Care

New York Gov. Cuomo has announced that the Recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) will remain Eligible for State-Funded Medicaid, regardless of any Federal Changes to the Program.

"We are very happy to hear that our governor is supporting DACA recipients even though we don't know what will happen to the program itself," Siomara Umana said. Umana, from Carecen, the Central American Refugee Center in Brentwood, says the Organization is happy with the Governor's decision to protect DACA Recipients.

There are about 42,000 people in New York State benefiting from DACA.

Cuomo released a Statement, saying, "The federal government's failure to take action to protect DACA recipients is appalling, un-American, un-just, and puts hundreds of thousands of children at risk. Here in New York, we will do everything in our power to protect DACA recipients and ensure they receive health care."

The People at Carecen say the Dreamers still have hope, even with the Risk of the Program being Terminated.
