MAYDAY.US Defending Democracy from Corrupt Gerrymandering

In 2017, Gerrymandering continued to be a scourge on Democracy. But in 2018, MAYDAY.US will tackle the problem.

This past year, Politicians continued to Rig their own Elections by Slicing and Dicing their Districts. In Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, and other States, Gerrymandering allowed Politicians to ignore their Voters and keep doing the Work of Lobbyists and Big Donors. We can’t let this continue.

That’s why they are kicking off Defending Democracy 2018 Campaign, a Nationwide effort to Defend and Advance the Cause of Democracy ahead of the Elections Next Year.

With Support for the Defending Democracy 2018 Campaign, they’ll Run and Feature Campaigns that can Defeat the most Egregious Examples of Gerrymandering.

Here are just a few they're working on:

- Ending Gerrymandering in Pennsylvania by supporting the March on Harrisburg, which is using Lobbying and Civil Disobedience to push for a Non-Partisan, Fair Districts Commission.

- A MAYDAY-Member led Ballot Initiative to set up Independent, Non-Partisan Redistricting in Missouri.

- Measures to End Gerrymandering in Michigan and Ohio, headed towards the Ballot.

America’s promise is a Government of, by, and for the People, where the most fundamental Liberty is the Right to Freely Choose our Representatives through Voting. When Politicians choose their Voters through Gerrymandering, it’s an Unconscionable Subversion of our Democracy.
