USAF Failed to Enter TX Church Shooter’s Record In U.S. Gun Check Database

The U.S. Air Force Failed to Record the Texas Church Shooter’s Domestic Violence Conviction and Jail Time in a Federal Database, The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) that would have kept him from Buying Guns, according to a Draft Statement from the Air Force.

Devin Patrick Kelley, who served at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, was Convicted by a General Court Martial on Two Charges of Domestic Assault against his Wife and Stepson, and served Federal Jail time, before being Released with a Bad Conduct Discharge in 2014.

Under Federal Law, his Conviction would have Prohibited him from Buying or Possessing Firearms.

This allowed him to Pass Four Background Checks over Four years and Legally Purchase Four Firearms.

But at the same time, his request for a Texas Gun Permit was Denied.
