HHS Schedules Website Maintenance During Obamacare Enrollment Period

The Trump Administration's Health and Human Services (HHS) plans to Shut Down the Federal Health Insurance Exchange for 12 Hours during all but one Sunday in the Upcoming Open Enrollment Season, for Maintenance. The Shutdown will occur from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET on every Sunday except Dec. 10. This is the same time that many Working Citizens could be Shopping for their Insurance,

The Trump Administration has come under attack from critics who say that it is Intentionally undermining the Affordable Care Act (ACA), through Regulatory Actions. It shortened the Enrollment Period by 50%, Withdrew Money for Advertising by 90%, and Cut the Budget for Navigator Groups which help People Shop for Plans.

Now we hear Tom Price, Secretary of HHS, Cut Administration Participation in Obamacare Activities by over 40%.

The recent Announcement by the Trump Administration to Slash Funding for Enrollment Assistance and Marketing of insurance Policies offered to Individuals through the ACA will not affect New York, the Head of the State’s Online Exchange said Thursday.

Donna Frescatore, Executive Director of NY State of Health said, “Letting people know about coverage through the Marketplace and helping them enroll in coverage is not only the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do because it brings healthier people into the insurance market. We’re as committed as ever to ensuring that consumers have enrollment assistance in communities throughout the state.”

NY State of Health is the Online Market created Four Years ago to comply with the Requirements of the ACA, known as Obamacare.

A Dozen Insurance Companies will offer Plans to Individuals through NY State of Health for 2018, and 15 will offer the Essential Plan, an Option with Monthly Premiums of $20 or less for New Yorkers with Incomes just above the Eligibility Level for Medicaid.

The New York State Department of Financial Services approved average 14% Premium Increases for Individual Policies and a 9% Hike for small Groups for 2018. But NY State of Health Officials said many New Yorkers will see their Premiums for Comparable Coverage Decrease this year, if they Qualify for Tax Credits.
