Since their founding in 1979, Americares has delivered more than $15 Billion in Quality Medical Aid and Innovative Health Programs to 164 Countries, including the U.S.

What they do:

Emergency Programs

- Prepare: In Vulnerable Regions, they Pre-Position Emergency Supplies, help Communities reduce risk and prepare for Disaster while Training Health Care Providers.

- Respond: In the first hours, their Emergency team sets in motion a Disaster Relief Operation uniquely suited for the Crisis and Conditions on the Ground.

- Recover: They Stay in Country for Months and Years, Rebuilding Hospitals, Clinics, and Addressing Targeted Health needs of the Community and Restoring Health Care Access.

Access to Medicine

Nearly 2 Billion People in the World cannot get the Medicines they need to stay Healthy. As the Leading Global Nonprofit of Donated Medicine and Medical Supplies, they Listen to the Communities they Serve and Respond Compassionately and Nimbly to their Needs. They provide Assistance without Prejudice, on the Basis of Expressed Need.

Global Access to Medicine: Doctors and Health Workers established Mobile Clinics that Delivered Care to Families affected by Ebola in Isolated Areas, a Measles Vaccination Program, Psychosocial support for Schools, and important Infection Prevention and Control Training for Health Workers.

Medical Outreach: For 35 years Americares Medical Outreach Program has supported Medical Professionals with Free Medicines & Medical Supplies for their International Trips. They also provide Educational & Training Resources through the Medical Outreach Exchange. The Teams they support offer Primary Care, Perform Surgeries, Respond to Emergencies, and strengthen Local Health Care in Communities where Health Services are Lacking.

U.S. Programs: Americares is the Largest Provider of Medical Aid to the U.S. Health Care Safety Net. They help Partner Clinics increase Service Capacity, provide Comprehensive Care, Improve Health Outcomes, and reduce Costs for Patients.

Community Health

Working through Hospitals, Clinics, and other Health Facilities, they can Reduce Preventable Illness and Death and Improve Overall Individual and Family Health at the Community Level. This Clinic-to-Community Model Links Treatment Services to Disease Prevention and Health Education. They are Developing and Providing Proven Systems of Care for Newborn, Maternal, Child Health, Mental Health, Hypertension, and Diabetes. The Cornerstone of much of their Work in each Community focuses on Empowering, Informing, and Educating Community Health Workers and Leaders, building a Stronger Health Care System so they can become the Critical Link Connecting their Community to good Health and Beyond.

Diabetes and Hypertension: Is a Growing Crisis not just in the United States but around the World, particularly in Developing Countries.

Mental Health: Following the Ecuador Earthquake in 2016, Adults spent time with a Team of Psychologists to share information on how best to take Care of Themselves and their Children during this Difficult Time.

Maternal and Child Health: At no other time is the need for immediate Quality Medical Care more crucial than at Birth and during the First Years of a Child’s Life.

I meet them today. I was working as Press at the Concordia 2017 Annual Summit.
