New York State Supreme Court Justice, Arthur Diamond, found that Republican Primary, Congressional District 3, Part of Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties, challenger Philip Pidot has enough signatures to qualify for the GOP Congressional Primary against State Sen. Jack Martins.
Initially, a petition designating Pidot as an NY-3 candidate was blocked by the Nassau County Supreme Court on June 7 on the grounds that it violated a superfluous filing deadline by-law. That ruling was later overturned in a June 17 ruling by the State’s Appellate Court for the Judicial Department.
Justice Arthur Diamond found Pidot had more than the 1,250 needed to quilify for the Primary.
He did not issue a formal decision on the ultimate fate of the Primary.
He allowed the Primary to be held.

The New York State Appellate Division in Brooklyn rejected would-be Republican challenger Philip Pidot’s effort to force a new date for a Congressional Primary election against State Senate Jack Martins for retiring Rep. Steve Israel’s Third District seat.
