Joe Miller Seeking Constitution Party Presidential Nomination

Thanks to Richard Winger of Ballot Access News for this post.

Reports from sources inside the Constitution Party report that Joe Miller will be making his entrance into the Constitution Party’s Presidential nomination race. His candidacy will begin in earnest sometime in the next few weeks.

Joe Miller is perhaps best known for running an insurgent campaign for U.S. Senate in Alaska in 2010. He was a former U.S. Magistrate Judge and Interior Regional Chairman of the Republican Party who ran against sitting Republican U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski. To virtually everyone’s surprise, he won the Primary, ousting her from her seat, or so everyone assumed. As the Republican nominee Joe Miller would face a statewide write-in campaign from Lisa Murkowski and a Democratic nominee, in addition to other minor party and independent opposition. Murkowski captured the seat again with 39.5% of the vote over his 35.5%. The Democrat ran a distant third at 23.5%

Currently, Joe Miller is a radio host who’s show is broadcast online and on a number of stations in Alaska as well as the owner of the Law Offices of Joseph W. Miller LLC. He keeps up a presence on social media, as well, maintaining a Twitter account with more than 10,000 followers and a Facebook account with more than 41,000 fans.

Miller has always been a Republican, but has always maintained interactions with right-wing third Party members, allies, and figures. In his 2010 race, he was endorsed by former Alaskan Lieutenant Governor and Alaskan Independence Party member Jack Coghill. He was also endorsed by Alan Keyes, who in 2008 ran for the Constitution Party Presidential nomination, lost, and then founded the America’s Independence Party. Todd Palin, a member of the Alaskan Independence Party and husband to Sarah Palin, was another endorser. His radio show has hosted Constitution Party stalwarts like author Jerome Corsi and attorney Herb Titus over the years.

Joe Miller is a West Point Graduate, U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Yale Law School, and later earned a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
