When the Supreme Court struck down the heart of the Voting Rights Act, Republican legislators pounced.
And in recent years, they’ve worked to make it far harder for minorities to vote.
Since 2011 alone:
-13 states have passed more restrictive voter ID laws
-8 states have passed laws cutting back on early voting days and hours
-9 states passed laws making it harder to register to vote
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official campaign arm of the Democrats in the House of Representatives.
Democrats just launched, The Vote Project, an enormous effort to fight for expanded voting rights. They believe voters should be registered to vote the moment they get their driver’s licenses.
17 states have already introduced bills that would require automatic registration.
Democrats plan to introduce similar bills in 20 more states.
