Iowa Conference on Presidential Politics

Today begins, Oct.29-31, the Iowa Conference on Presidential Politics which will be hosted by Dordt College.

This will attract Presidential candidates from both sides of the aisle, and because of that, it is an important opportunity for Minor party and Independent candidates to address Iowa Caucus voters.

The conference will be a national, cross-disciplinary, inaugural meeting of scholars focusing on Presidential elections and Presidential power. It will feature three distinguished historians and political scientists as keynote speakers: Andrew Bacevich, Amy Black and Robert Johnston.

All are welcome, professors and instructors, independent scholars and interested citizens, graduate students and undergraduates. Scholars of political science, history, culture, and applied theology are among those encouraged to participate. Papers informed by qualitative research and normative political thought are welcome.

They will be utilizing Iowa's unique status as the first-in-the-nation state in the Presidential selection process. They plan to attract more than one Presidential candidate to speak at the conference since it will be timed to coincide with the Iowa caucuses.
