Twitter is making it easier than ever to donate to a political candidate or cause of your choice. Or, depending on how you look at it, the social media service is making it easier than ever to annoy Americans with endless appeals for more money.
The company announced Tuesday that its users will now be able to donate directly through a tweet in conjunction with its partner, Square.
The technology is already being employed by the Presidential campaigns of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R).
Once users encounter a tweet posted by a candidate or organization with a link to a Square account, they can simply hit the “contribute” button allowing them to enter credit card information and the amount they wish to donate.
"This is the fastest, easiest way to make an online donation, and the most effective way for campaigns to execute tailored digital fundraising, in real time, on the platform where Americans are already talking about the 2016 election and the issues they are passionate about," Twitter said in a statement on its blog.
