The November 7, 2017 General Election will include a Constitutional Convention Ballot Question.
Under the New York State Constitution (Article 19, §2), every 20 years the people of the Empire State are asked a seemingly simple ballot question; “Shall there be a convention to revise the constitution and amend same?”
The Siena College Research Institute (SRI) and the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government today announced that they will be partnering over the next two years to measure New Yorkers’ awareness of the upcoming vote in 2017 for a New York State Constitutional Convention. In addition to SRI and the Rockefeller Institute, other partners will include the Government Law Center at Albany Law School and the League of Women Voters of New York State.
A Siena College Poll will be released later this week to provide a first look at New Yorkers’ knowledge of and support for a 2017 Constitutional Convention vote.
