NY Voters Will Go to the Polls 4 Times in 2016

The complaint about voter turnout has been growing and many have suggested ways to increase participation in choosing a government by voting in an election processes.

In New York, asking your voters to go to the polls four times is not the answer.

The bill (S5958) sets the 2016 Presidential Primary on April 19.

I am sure the petitioners appreciate trudging through the snow collecting signatures.

In the past, a judge set June 24th for the Congressional primary, after the Legislature could not come up with a acceptable date to comply with the mailing military and overseas ballots on time.

The State's Primary is in September.

The General Election is held in November.

To add to the problem for voters, New York is a closed primary state, and 2,448,701 registered voters are locked out of the process because they are registered as independents and reported as BLANK.
