Maine Trying to Put Ranked-Choice Voting on their 2016 Ballot

For the past several months, Sen. Dick Woodbury and Rep. Diane Russell have been meeting with a working group convened by the League of Women Voters to develop a proposal for ranked-choice voting (RCV).

They have now launched an ambitious campaign to collect up to 75,000 petition signatures to bring RCV reform to a public referendum.

They have collected over 60,000 signatures so far and are aiming to have a question on the ballot in 2016.

This initiated bill provides ranked-choice voting for the offices of United States Senator, United States Representative to Congress, Governor, State Senator and State Representative for elections held on or after January 1, 2018.
