Judge Jim Gray 2012 Libertarian Vice Presidential candidate and Dr. Jill Stein 2012 Green Party Presidential Candidate are confirmed to speak at the United We Stand Festival 2015 (UWSF ‘15), this Fall in Colorado.
These individuals have dedicated their lives to the service of a brighter, more just and compassionate United States of America. Most recently, these individuals have led a strong movement to curtail the corruption and discrimination within the electoral process; an organization called Our America Initiative chaired by former Governor Gary Johnson. Specifically, this movement has set its aim on the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) which sponsors and produces presidential and vice presidential debates.
The CPD claims to be a nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) corporation, yet has openly and forcefully denied the rights of viable alternative party and independent candidates to participate in debates.
Their co-chairs are both former heads of the Republican and Democratic parties, respectively. Throughout recent history, alternative party and independent candidates have attempted to gain access to these exclusionary debates and were met with unfair and biased obstacles. This process of discrimination not only restricts the rights of candidates, but also decimates the concept of equal representation for citizens of the United States.
CPD director Alan Simpson said, "You have a lot of thoughtful Democrats and Republicans on the Commission that are interested in the American people finding out more about the two major candidates but not about independent candidates, who just mess things up.” - from George Farah‘s 2011 book No Debate.
The 2015 UWSF is the launching point for a 2016 Open Presidential Debates Tour. Judge Jim Gray and Dr. Jill Stein will speak at UWSF ‘15 about Our America Initiative’s lawsuit against the CPD and how electoral reform could drastically revive our nation’s status as a leader of democracy in the world. The fest provides an opportunity for experts and professionals within the political, academic, music, and other communities to come together to educate the people on political honesty and transparency. Recently, the UWSF has also been officially sponsored by the National Libertarian Party, among other important and innovative organizations.
Christina Tobin, Founder of The Free and Equal Elections Foundation, will discuss the upcoming lawsuit being filed by Gov. Gary Johnson's Our America Initiative against the Commission on Presidential Debates, whose plaintiffs include former 2012 presidential & vice presidential candidates from the Libertarian Party, Green Party, Justice Party, and more. The 103-year-old civil rights activist, Amelia Boynton Robinson, is the keynote speaker.
The Free and Equal Elections Foundation supports a complete reform of the electoral process, from the the presidential and vice presidential debates, to voting methods, to empowering the voter with unbiased and engaging political knowledge. This goal is largely tied to the efforts of Our America Initiative and invariably Judge Jim Gray and Dr. Jill Stein. Together, a powerful grassroots movement could become a monumental force, one capable of pursuing true change towards greater liberty and political equality.
“The League of Women Voters is withdrawing its sponsorship of the presidential debate scheduled for mid-October because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter.” - League of Women Voters President Nancy M. Neuman in 1988 upon the LWV pulling their support from the debates.
