April 15th, 2015, dozens of news outlets across the country covered Representation Day events that were organized, from start to finish, by Represent.Us members. Single parents, students, veterans, families, Americans of every creed and color. Together, they showed what their movement is made of.
Thousands more people joined in online. Rallies featured new chapter launches, campaign announcements, victory celebrations, speeches from faith leaders, activists, and elected officials. There was live music, giant banners, marching, and even hula hooping.
Together, they gathered even more support for Anti-Corruption Acts from small businesses in our towns. More than 3,500 people participated.
They launched the next wave of the movement in an unforgettable statement:
- 2 new Anti-Corruption Resolutions
- 8 new Represent.Us Chapters
- 35+ city campaigns started
- 3,500+ members standing coast-to-coast to say “Congress won’t fix Corruption. We will.”
Their goal is to pass 12 city and 2 state Anti-Corruption Acts in 2015/16, protect communities from corruption and build a movement bold enough to force change in Washington, DC.
