SeePolitical - See The Facts

SeePolitical is a voter tool for the modern lifestyle and revolutionizing the way we learn about upcoming ballot propositions.  SeePolitical demystifies the issues in a short video clip, so you actually understand what your vote means before you get to the polls.  The days of asking, “Does Yes mean No, or No mean Yes,” are finally over.

SeePolitical is a free app:

1. WATCH - quick videos and get informed fast on the ballot propositions near you.
2. DECIDE - save your response to each prop for easy access on Election day.
3. CHECK-IN - Get notified as new props hit the app.
4. VOTE - Pull up your mobile app at the polls to see your saved vote.

SeePolitical, a nonprofit organization offering entertaining educational videos that inform and empower voters about ballot propositions in California.  You can also easily save your answers and use your phone or tablet as a cheat sheet (yes, this is legal) when you’re voting.

They are starting this year by explaining California’s statewide ballot props for the June and November elections and have plans to expand to other states and candidates next year.  They want to empower voters with clear, unbiased information and they have a way of making it fun too.

Their partners include:

Otis College of Art and Design - who is offering a SeePolitical class to their seniors this fall semester.

University of Southern California's Unruh Institute of Politics - their students are currently assisting in their public policy analysis.

Imaginary Forces - an animation studio that is donating their time and resources to the project.

I asked them these questions:

1. Who does the video and is there an independent review of the facts stated in the video?
2. What protection is used so candidates, parties, and others do not see the individual results?
3. Is the aggregate vote viewable, yes/no and % total?

Their Answers

We protect all our users' personal information from third parties and although we don't include an aggregate vote that's easy to view we are considering it, however, we don't want to influence our viewers votes one way or the other and including a live vote tally might end up doing just that.
