NYC Hunger Coalition Releases Report for Next Mayor

Food Secure NYC 2018 Plan

Poverty, hunger, and obesity are soaring in New York City, while local and regional farmers struggle to make a living.

New York City Hunger Coalition released a comprehensive initiative, Food Secure New York City 2018 Plan, aimed at ensuring that key stakeholders (including the candidates for mayor) commit to a plan to end hunger and ensure access to nutritious, affordable, and convenient food for all New Yorkers through a revamped food system that creates jobs, aids workers, bolsters businesses, and protects the environment.

The plan has two parts:

1. The main plan focuses on executive actions that the next mayor can take.

2. An appendix with recommendations for legislative actions at the federal, state, and local levels.

In order to deliver their message to the broad public about the causes of, and solutions to, local hunger and food problems, They will ask key leaders, stakeholders, and partners, to join together to build a non-partisan movement with the power to change the public conversation and knowledge of hunger, nutrition, food, and poverty issues.
