Petitioning for NYC Mayoral Candidate Adolfo Carrion Jr.

Petitioning training at Carrion Headquarters

Adolfo Carrion Jr., the former New York City Council member,Bronx Borough President, and former Director of the White House Office of Urban Affairs, is running for Mayor of New York City as an independent.

Last Monday, volunteers began to petition to place his name on the New York City Independence Party line for the November election. Mr. Carrion has a deep commitment to urban development and his decision to run as an independent grew out of his recognition that the partisan orthodoxy in New York City was impeding much needed innovation and out-of-the-box thinking about poverty, job creation, and education reform.

I started collecting petition signatures on Tuesday, June 4th, 2013. I usually collect petition signatures on the mid and upper East Side of Manhattan. This year I am doing it be zip code. I have to collect around 100 signatures. In New York, I can only collect the signatures after my caller gets the OK from the signer. So each night during the week, from around 6pm to 9pm, I am running around that nights zip code collecting as many as I can get too. In the last couple of nights, I could have used a rowboat.
