Who are the independents?



On KALW 91.7 FM, San Francisco, CA., Aug. 25, 2012, had open lines to independents. According to a Gallup poll, more Americans identify as Democrats than as Republicans, 31 percent to 27 percent. Last year, the percentage of Americans identifying as political independents increased to 40 percent. Where do independents fit within the two-party political system?
