Can I Vote
At least 1.8 million people on the voter rolls will not be able to cast their ballots in November. That is because they are dead.
Their registrations are among a total of more than 24 million inaccurate or out-of-date U.S. voter records, according Pew Center on the States.
The tools that boards of elections have are just not up to the task of keeping up with our mobile society.
States update voter registration rolls from sources such as Social Security records and change-of-address forms, but data collection methods are inaccurate, costly, and inefficient.
Now eight states - Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Utah, and Nevada - are joining with the center in a pilot project to share information in an effort to update voter lists.
