We’re approaching the end of the First week of the COP27 UN climate talks in Egypt, and there’s already been a flurry of Activity on Fossil Fuels, Fossil Gas, Human Rights, and more.
in Africa has been a big talking point at COP27, and Civil Society groups are clear: Don’t Gas Africa. Germany and others in Europe have led a huge push to Expand the Extraction and Export of Fossil Gas in Africa, particularly since Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine. This Conversation has already taken Center stage at a few points in the COP27 Conference, particularly since it’s happening in Egypt. A tiny number of Rich Countries are finally stepping up with firm Financial Commitments, but many, many more need to follow.

The new Research from Global Witness shows there are more Fossil Fuel Lobbyists than Delegates from the Ten Countries most impacted by Climate Change Combined..
Egypt’s Human Rights Abuses are being talked about as Pressure mounts. There are multiple Reports in the media, and Allies, that the Human Rights situation in Egypt is dire.
