The Massachusetts Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) Initiative was Certified by Attorney General Maura Healey's Office.
Voter Choice Massachusetts is Leading the Campaign in Support of the Ballot Initiative.
RCV Backers now have Three months to gather Signatures from more than 80,000 Voters, after which the Legislature will get an Opportunity to act on the Issue. If Lawmakers don't, Supporters can gather Additional Signatures to force a November 3rd 2020 Ballot Question.
The Ballot Measure would enact RCV for Elections in Massachusetts. The Ballot Measure would Exclude Elections for Presidential Electors, County Commissioners, and Regional District School Committees, as well as Elections in Caucuses.
RCV is a Voting Method in which Voters Rank Candidates according to their Preference and Ballots are processed in Rounds. The Last-Place Candidate is Eliminated during each Round and the Voters' Next choice get their Votes. The Process is continued until a Candidate Wins a simple Majority of 50%+1 of the Vote.
