Supreme Court Schedule Mexico’s Suit Against U.S. Gun Manufacturers


The Supreme Court will hear Oral Arguments on March 4th, 2025, in a Lawsuit brought by the Mexican Government against U.S. Gun Manufacturers, seeking to hold them Liable for Gun Violence in Mexico, Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. v. Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

Issues:

(1) Whether the Production and Sale of Firearms in the U.S. is the Proximate cause of alleged Injuries to the Mexican Government, stemming from Violence committed by Drug Cartels in Mexico.

(2) Whether the Production and Sale of Firearms in the U.S., amounts to “Aiding and Abetting” Illegal Firearms Trafficking because Firearms Companies, Allegedly know that some of their Products are Unlawfully Trafficked.

Nov 04 2024 - Motion to Dispense with Printing the Joint Appendix Filed by Petitioners was Granted. Motion to Extend the Time to File Petitioners' Brief on the Merits was Rxtended to and including November 26th, 2024. The Time to File Respondent's Brief on the Merits is extended to and including January 10th, 2025.
