ACLU Takes Legal Action Over Trump’s New Voter Fraud Executive Order

By using an Executive Order to launch an Investigation into Voter Fraud, President Trump is taking aim at one of our most fundamental freedoms, the Right to Vote. And adding insult to injury, he’s nominated the King of Voter Suppression, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, to lead this Commission as its Vice-Chairman.

If President Trump really wanted to protect the Integrity of the Election Process, he would be investigating Russian Interference and challenging voter Suppression, not pursuing phony claims of massive Voter Fraud.

The ACLU’s far-reaching work to protect vulnerable Voters has never been more critical. They need to vigorously resist this latest attempt to use “alternative facts” to advance Voter Suppression. And, they have already taken Legal Action to demand access to the Information that the Administration is using as the basis for its Voter fraud Claims.

Without offering any evidence, President Trump has repeatedly claimed there were 3 to 5 million illegally cast Ballots. His own Lawyers have said “All available evidence suggests that the 2016 general election was not tainted by fraud or mistake.”

And a careful review of more than 135 million Ballots cast in the November Elections by The Washington Post documented currently a grand total of just four Cases of Voter Fraud Nationwide, including an Iowa woman who voted twice, for Trump.

So this clearly isn’t about Protecting Voters. If it was, Kris Kobach, who the ACLU has four Active Lawsuits for Infringing on Voting Rights, wouldn’t be in charge. Trump and Kobach are laying the Groundwork for new efforts to suppress the Votes of people less likely to support the President’s agenda.

The ACLU is leading the way in challenging Voter Suppression efforts in State Legislatures and Courtrooms across the Country.
