NY Election Administration Update on Early Voting

Common Cause NY has long advocated for improvements in the way New York administrates our elections.

Simply put, it’s time that the processes by which New Yorkers register and cast their ballots catch up to modern needs and new technologies.

On Thursday of last week, they testified at a State Assembly Elections Committee hearing on several reform proposals, including the popularity of early voting.

Prior to the hearing, they and other groups sent a letter to Governor Cuomo, requesting that funding for New York State counties to administer early voting be included in the 2016 Executive Budget.

They will be continuing this push into next year, which looks to be a very important year for voting and elections.
